Dr. Yvette Marie B. Santiago-Gatmaitan is the current president of the Philippine Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She is the head of the Orbit and Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery sections of 3 institutions: St. Luke’s Medical Center, Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center, and Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center, where she is actively involved in their Ophthalmology residency training programs. She is also an Associate Professor in St. Luke’s Medical Center- College of Medicine.

Dr. Santiago graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Pharmacy from the University of the Philippines-Manila. She earned her medical degree from St. Luke’s College of Medicine-William H. Quasha Memorial and then proceeded with her residency training in ophthalmology at St. Luke’s Medical Center. After residency, she did a short observership at the LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad before proceeding to her clinical fellowship in Orbit and Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear, Harvard Medical School in Boston.

Dr. Santiago is former editor-in-chief and current senior editor of the Philippine Academy of Ophthalmology’s online newsletter, eFocalPoint. She is also a chapter author of several international Orbit textbooks.
